OEM exhaust manifold gasket or one from eurocarparts?

Featured Replies

The OEM one is £18 and I need to drive out further (plus I’m pretty skint at the minute)

The one from eurocarparts is £4.79 and is by Erling

Now when I did my valve cover gasket I used an Erling gasket, this has since leaked. I should have used OEM.

Thing is though don’t exhaust gaskets have the additional benefit of carbing up after a few hundred miles, helping to seal them?

So basically what should I do? I don’t want to spend the extra if I shouldn’t need to but I also don’t want to have to do the gasket again because of an exhaust leak?

Have you checked eBay to see how much the OEM one costs with delivery?

I wouldn't use an aftermarket one considering the hassle it is to access and how a blow there will throw the lambda readings out.

I ended up just getting a legit one from lookers ford. Like you say it’s just not worth the hassle. Cutting corners never seems to work out for me lol

Should I use some exhaust paste on either side of the gasket?

No.  Don't use any paste before the cat.

Can I ask if your engine a 1.0 Ecoboost? I can't see any exhaust manifold gasket listed for my engine.

I don't know if it is available separate, it comes with the full engine gasket kit.

Hi Unofix. They are available but are not Ford (as the original comes with them poke welded in a couple of places on a shield). I did buy a full gasket kit originally but don't need a full set now as most of them are still in as new condition e.g. the inlet manifold seals.

There are a half dozen or more trade name gaskets which will do the job; Elring 553.480 and Victor Reinz 11-42392-01 are examples.
