APIM Ford warranty fault

Anyone out there had any trouble with Ford Sync APIM, my 3 year warranty ran out in March this year, my problem started with the navigation on the sync in January which was reported to Ford, then we lost connectivity with our phones, struggling to connect to the sync, late February, at this time we had no idea it was a serious fault, then just after the warranty ran out the system started to freeze, then the black screen on the touchscreen. 

Also Ford pass started to play up, couldn't access the connectivity option, it just froze.

I was advised to do a soft reset which worked for a time.

Then I was advised to do a master reset which froze on the continue button.

Now, total black screen no radio or phone.

All reported to Ford, over the last months, I was advised to book it in to a dealership but the time of the appointment was after the warranty ran out.

Now Ford are saying because I booked it in after the warranty ran out it's not covered.

Even though I'd reported the problem before the warranty ran out.

I also was advised to do an update, which was tried via USB and wifi but didn't work, the sync kept losing WiFi after the cars was turned off. 

Anyone having any trouble with the Sync system.
