Ford fiesta 09 bonnet

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

After popping my bonnet (ford fiesta zetec 09) it wouldn't close and instead remained in its unlocked position held by the yellow catch.

Initially pulling the release inside the car did nothing but I could hear the wire being acted on, I pulled the end of the wire forward and noticed that then the release would pull this to open its latch. I pulled this forward and then dropped the bonnet which clicked back in place.

In the attached picture the head of this wire is just to the left and down of the yellow tag and controlled the latch to the left.

I just wanted to make.sure I'm clear on what happened. It seems like the latch was stuck in a closed position and by pulling the wire forward I gave it space to push the latch back essentially?

Just like that TV programme...... "Lubrication, Lubrication, Lubrication" or was it Location ? 🤔

Anyhow use some spray on 3in1 oil and give it some lubrication. 👍
