Newer Fiesta alloys onto an older Fiesta ?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Has anyone ever looked into modernising their older Fiesta by fitting MK8 alloys onto a MK7 2010 version ?
I've been looking at changing my alloys to a newer version.

My alloys are 16 inch with 195/45/16 tyres.

The tyres which should go on these newer wheels are: 195/55/16.

Would these wheels be a direct fit with no issues ? No idea myself so asking first.

They should fit straight on with no problems. You will even get a fractionally softer ride, but it's so slight I'd doubt you would notice the difference. 👍

There will be a slight error in your speedo (and mileage) which you can correct using FORScan.

This site is very useful for comparing tyre/wheel sizes.

Thanks for replying.

I suppose I could fit my original 195/45/16 tyres onto the newer wheels ?

That possible ?

Yes, 195mm is perfectly acceptable on a 6.5J rim.

Do you know the offset of your current alloys?  (Measured in ET)

Thanks.  They're the same width as the new ones (6.5J).  But with 5.5mm less offset, the rim will sit 5.5mm closer to the suspension.

If you get any inside rubbing, you could use a 5mm spacer to move them close to the original distance.

As the new and old rims are both 6.5J you should be fine using 195/45/16 tyres on the new ones and so keep your original gearing for the speedo and odometer.
