Mk7 radio stuck on “welcome Ford Audio”

Featured Replies

So recently went to change my car radio from the normal one to an android head unit, whilst I was doing it I noticed that the head unit wouldn’t turn on anymore so I plugged the old radio back in and the screen for it to be stuck on the screen “Welcome Ford Audio” with a little green cog down in the bottom left.

I’ve seen in the past people have issues with this even though it is extremely rare but I’ve bought a complete new radio unit and it’s still doing the same thing.

would anyone likely to know what the issue might be or to give me any advice on what to do? Below I’ve listed everything that I’ve done to try and sort this.

checked the fuses behind the glove box, disconnected the battery for 30 mins to force a reset, I’ve even tried bending the circuit board like someone recommended!!

feeling very hopeless at the moment and it’s doing my head in that I can’t drive without any music what so ever so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

thank you!

I assume (probably wrongly) that while you were doing all this swapping of radios that you had disconnected the car battery ?

Had the battery connected the whole time whilst changing everything over, have I done this wrong by any chance?

There is quite a good chance that at the very least you have blown a fuse. Or you might be unlucky and one of the modules has become damaged.

Try disconnecting the negative lead from the car battery and leaving it off for 20 minutes. Then reconnect and it will reboot all the modules in the car including the infotainment system.
