Ford Mondeo 2011 Indicator Issues

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Really frustrated with a issue for my Ford Mondeo 2011 (Diesel). The left indicator turns on randomly while driving and needs some attempts to turn it off.

When I turn off the engine and lock the car, after a while the left taillight comes on stays on for the whole night. This issue drained my old battery and it went complete flat. I also replaced the battery with a brand new battery. After replacing the number of times the indicator goes on automatically while driving has reduced. However, when i turn on the keys first thing in the morning, the left indicator turn on automatically and the tail light also stays on overnight like before.

I did some research and found that a Faulty Fuse Box could be the culprit. Could anyone please help me with this issue, I am getting frustrated, thanks much.

The cause is a faulty Body Control Module (BCM) which is part of the passenger compartment Fusebox located up behind the glovebox.

The BCM will have water ingress which can be caused by water from the screen wash pump tracking back along the wires and eventually corroding the the BCM.

BEFORE investigating the condition of the Body Control Module, disconnect the car battery. Then remove the connectors from the BCM and check for water ingress and corrosion.

See this thread on BCM problems on the Mondeo. There is a video in the thread which shows the water ingress.
