StephenFord
I'm just curious, why do folk 'scam posts'? Is it just to show off their technical skills at doing so, or is there some financial gain at doing so? Edited May 29 by alexp999 Removed picture that benefits scammers. alexp999
People will Google phone numbers. Spamming huge amounts like this tries to alter the results to provide a scammers number instead of a genuine one when someone naive is looking and not checking where they get the number from. The site owners need to restrict new member thread posting or have threads with certain words require mod approval or something. It’s getting ridiculous. The clear up afterwards in between us checking can take ages if they’ve had chance to post a lot.

Ford Owners' Club
It's damned annoying more than anything, it seems endemic across many sites and social media also. We put the site registration through many different anti-spam filters but they seem to find new ways of infiltrating them. Luckily as soon as we see them hitting the site we can put member registration on moderator approval and catch quite a few that way and eventually they give up. However, the ones that have registered some time ago lay dormant until they post for the first time (so not new registrations and then bypass those filters) Meanwhile, I'm off on a cheap holiday if anyone needs me 🙂
