Tips on testing broken Heated front Windows in summer

Featured Replies

Hi all, my Front heated windows on my 2006 MK5 Fiesta are not working and i was going to investigate next week by checking the wiring under the cowling in the front. But it dawned on me, how on earth do i know if i have fixed them in this weather lol. Any ideas?

2006 Fiesta is a Mk6 in the UK. - It could even possibly be a Mk6.5 or otherwise known as a Mk6 facelift.

How do you know it's not working ?

You could always use an infrared temperature sensor.

For example: image.thumb.png.9d21c77df4563ded8bd9ad8c6046e7eb.png

Could get up early on a damp morning or late evening when the window is misted over to try it.

The screen is in two halves, but check you are getting 12V to both sides, (underneath the "A" post trims), and then measure the resistance of both halves of the screen.  Don't forget you will need the engine running to get 12V.

Not sure about the getting up early though !

On many Ford models the heated front screen will only operate if the outside ambient temp is 7oC or below. This might be the case for a 2006 Fiesta, it most definitely was the case for my 2001 Galaxy.

are you mad ??? 🤣

You should never get up until the streets have been well aired 👍

Looks like I'm the only early riser here then.

Thank you for the help guys.

I know it's not working from trying to use it in the Winter months, checked and changed the Fuses (They loked ok, but just incase) checked the Relays and they seemed fine) just not working.

I'll test with a multimeter then, seems the logical way 🙂 I do have a temp gun, so may try that also!

Lets see my neighbours reaction when i am outside at 5am pointing a gun at my car 🤣

sit inside with a hot cuppa and steam up the windows....simples

Being of a certain age, there use to be a surefire way of steaming up my car windows - but I think it may be politically incorrect to mention it 🤣
