Removing Door Cards

Featured Replies

Ok the rattles in my Fiesta is driving me mad lol

So has anyone put up guides or know how to pull the door interior cards off so I can sort out the rattles?

Thanks

I think im gonna give mine a go soon, just to figure out the best speakers I can fit into teh door...as far as i can tell its the usual 2 main screws, (one in the interior door release behind the small plastic button, and one in the interior door handle, their about 4-5 plastic "pop-click" fittings that run along the bottom which....if you slam the car door hard enough pops them out lol, then its the usual messing about getting the alignment right to lift it out, but can be more bothersome trying to push it back on.

There are 3 Torx screws (1 in the release handle, 2 behind the silver trim on the door pull). You need to be very careful removing the silver trim or you'll crack it or sratch the surface, so get some soft plastic trim removal tools. There are also 2 screws/dowels on the bottom corner of the panel underside. After that it pops off (with some force).

The main speaker is a standard sized 6.5"/17cm unit, but you need to buy or make a custom adaptor to fit a new speaker (I made mine). The tweeter is more of a problem as it a completely custom fitting. If you want to replace it directly, you'll need one with a <40mm outside diameter and then hold it in place with hot glue or similar. I didn't like the placement (the driver's side is way too close to get good imaging) so put mine on top of the dash angled off-axis. The crossovers fit behind the door card at the top front, where there's a sizeable void. I also stuck acoustic foam to the back of the card to reduce outside noise and put some sound deadening on the door skin.

To answer the OP, there isn't much behind the card that could rattle (maybe the tweeter or its connector). Any rattle in the door is likely to be behind the inner plastic guard that has the window mounted to it. Removing that is a complete pain as you have to take out the window, but you could remove the speaker (3 Torx screws) and have a forage around inside the door to see if anything's loose, e.g. a stray screw.

I successfully removed mine as Antony has described. Anyone know how to get access to the rear speakers?
