Rear washer jet

Featured Replies

I have a 15 plate focus, when I use my rear washer. The screenwash is coming out black and leaving marks all down the back of my car. The jet is in the 3rd rear brake. How do clean this ? The fronts work fine

The proper way to do it is remove the rear pipe from the washer pump and then blow compressed air through it until it runs clear.  While you're there you can make sure there isn't a build up of muck in the tank or on the pump filter.

After that, try to use the rear washer more often to prevent any fluid sitting in the pipe for long periods of time.

If you want a quicker bodge, the washer pipe can be disconnected in the wiring loom from the tailgate.  But that's potentially only 'half a job' if the muck is sitting in the pipework along the roof.
