Danbuoy1
2010 Fiesta 1.6 with VVT twin cams. Fitted genuine Ford timing belt/tensioner etc 2yrs ago but took the cheap way out with a Eurocarparts Circoli water pump. Water pump has lasted 10k before leaking last month. Luckily its aux belt driven and I've managed to remove without touching bottom pulley (so can keep VVT cams aligned with special tool. ECP have swapped pump for a new one FOC but not sure whether to now fit OEM, around £100. Now I know it can be done in a few hours tempted to retry Circoli but don't want same problem again! Any experience of these pumps - have I just been unlucky?
unofix
I'd guess that the Circoli pumps normally last longer than 2 years. If Eurocarparts had to give everyone a free replacement pump after only 2 years there would be little point in selling them.
Danbuoy1
Good call and thanks for replying 😃. Its one of those bits that I rarely (never!) had to replace on our cars so little experience of different aftermarket makes. Its the wifes car and only has a red light to show when running hot, easy to miss. Happily bought OEM belt as have seen others that have broken but a pump.....? Cheers Paul
EdGasket
Well I hope they are alright as I have just fitted one. Actually before I fitted it I researched a little and found that they were generally thought to be well made. Perhaps you were unlucky or maybe they are not so good, time will tell. BTW how did you know it was the water pump leaking when it is hidden by the time ing cover?

Good question, had slowly been losing water for few months, no signs of leak but suddenly got worse and I feared head gasket. Then noticed dripping when I took cap off, could see it underneath coming from pump neck, literally water spraying everywhere when engine running! Took covers off and dripping from pump neck. Took pump off and filling with water, drips out of hole near pulley end. Didn't want to go thru the hassle of removing crank pulley and retiming, luckily can get pump off leaving belt in place (after removing tensioner) - A PAIN! Danbuoy1
In some ways relieved not a head gasket!

I only did as car had done 113k and fitting new belt thought wise to take a perfectly functional and happy pump off and fit this replacement...... Danbuoy1
Sorry to go on - this was a vid I took of it https://photos.app.goo.gl/qx2qhqTh5z48EP987
EdGasket
I fitted one because I was doing the timing belt anyway and it was suggested to be wise to renew it while everything was apart. Yes the timing belt is a PAIN to do if you haven't done one of these before. As is the thermostat, very hard to get at the bolts, I ended up cross threading one but nothing I could do except force the thing in due to no access.
mattsminiresto66
10,000 is about 8000 further than the first one i had fitted, and 8500 further than its warranty replacement. On the third attempt i gave up with Circoli and went back to Ford. Both of mine were leaking through the bearings and out of the tell tale, i don't think they can cope with the tension of the stetch belt loading the bearing. In the "old" days if you overtightened the fan belt, it knocked out the water pump bearings !
