Rain and light sensor retrofit fiesta mk7

Featured Replies

Hi,

i was wondering if it is possible to retrofit rain and light sensor as well as auto dimming mirror on to ford fiesta mk7 trend.

I saw couple of options for dimming mirror as i dont have factory harness that supports it in roof that it is possible to run it down the a pilar and connect it to fuse box, but for the sensor situation i couldn’t find any diagrams how that could be connected so im curious if anyone has done this kind of a mod

My titanium has these features and the dimming mirror good but I hate the rain sensor, it is so erratic that even with the screen covered in water it takes ages to activate and then if its starts to drizzle the wipers suddenly go at full speed. I wish I had the manual intermittent wipers on mine as I have given up using the rain sensor position.

Sounds like yours are faulty.  There will be the odd situation that the sensor struggles with, but it should be a rare occurrence.  I've had auto-wipers on many different cars and never found them to be poor for the majority of the time.

Remove the sensor, clean the area behind it, and fit a new gel pad, making sure it's tight against the screen.  Any air gap or cloudiness in front of the sensor will prevent it reading correctly.

Thanks I will have a look at that. It's the first car I've had with auto wipers so had nothing to compare, did try disconnecting them hoping the sensitivity control would act as a manual intermittent but it didn't work and I had a permanent warning on the info screen.

Hey could you possibly track wires from rains sensor and take some pictures so i can see where they are connected?

It's not just plug and play.

Do some research with the wiring etc and try to remove the loom from the donor car that you get the sensor and mirror from (mirror is plug and play)

Plus, you probable need a screen unless you're brave enough to try to remove the mounting bracket from the donor also

You will need to confirm if your BCM supports rain sensor and being a style I suspect not, so budget for having to also use the BCM from the donor, make sure the car is a similar spec (3-Door/5-Door etc)
