MK6 Econetic Intermittent Engine Management Light Problems

Featured Replies

Afternoon everyone,

My Wife has a much loved 2009 Econetic. The car ha been largely faultless during her 9 years of ownership.

However! In the past 2 years there has been a very intermittent fault where the car will suddenly go into limp mode and the 'engine malfunction service now' message shows up on the centre display.

The first 2 times it went into the garage for  a diagnostic check and both times no codes were stored.

It seems to happen when pulling away and not revving it enough. (Happens with me more as I drive like Miss Daisy)

The last time I managed to take it to the garage as the light came on when I was driving home.

2 Error codes were present:

P1224 Throttle position sensor

P2146/2148 Injector Input Voltage

This was on February 2022

During the summer it doesn't happen as often but this year it is happening regularly.

I have searched the forums before registering and subsequently ordered a Vlinker to use with Forscan.

I have just put it onto the car and had the following error codes:

U2100.00-28 - initial configuration not complete

P0606.00-28- Power Control Module

P2290.00-28- Injector Control Pressure Too Low

P0087:21-28- Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low (Signal Amplitude Less Than Minimum)

The P2290 & P0087 codes were only present once.

I checked the fuel rail pressure in the dashboard and it appeared to meet the desired pressure.

Now I am left with U2100 & P0606 present.

Could anyone shed any light on where to start looking? I have attached the log of the codes were all 4 were present.

The car is regularly serviced, has 115K miles and the fuel filter has been recently changed.

Your help is appreciated!

Matt
