Worn gearbox mount

Featured Replies

Hi, wondering if anyone has any insight into the issues I'm having.. At the start of May I bought a 68 plate Focus ST-Line X (just under 38k miles on it), the next day I could hear a noise when the engine was idiling and a thud when starting the car, so took a video and sent it to the sales guy, after loads of back and forth it eventually gets booked in and that said they found the issue - the gearbox mount is worn. Part ordered and while I'm waiting it gets worse, then the clutch started making a whining noise when at the biting point mostly on any hills (I have a video of this noise)

I'm wondering can the gearbox mount being worn and the engine jumping cause any issues with the clutch? I've been to an independent garage and they've said it was the clutch spring. I'm worried that the one issue has caused other issues with it and it'll just become a headache.

I cant add the videos as they're too large.

Thanks,

Donna

MK4s are suffering with clutch and gearbox issues so it can be anything really.

Let them change the mounting then see if the issue goes away
