Ford focus titanium 2l diesel auto

Featured Replies

Hi, I've had this car,  2011 focus titanium,  2l diesel for 3  months and it's been ok..

Just recently got a bit sluggish to start and then after 3 increasingly worse start ups, then just fails to start or fire up at all

Engine turns over ok and diesel is getting to Injectors.

There may be traces of ad blue in the diesel, but very little.

Would this matter?

Any ideas people

As far as I know, a 2011 diesel Focus never used Adblue. How have you got Adblue in the diesel fuel?

and if you have Adblue mixed in with the diesel then it does matter, the car won't start.

As long as it really is just 'traces' of AdBlu, that should get caught in the watertrap in the fuel filter.  Has the filter been replaced or drained since the incident?

It was an emptied 10l adblue bottle filled with diesel and i jave not changed the filter.

I poured a can of fresh diesel in it and started nicely but after leaving it running for 10 minutes and switching off, gets sluggish and lumpy to start again and after a few lumpy start ups fails to start again

Drain the contaminated fuel, change the fuel filter

You can bypass the LP side of the system and fit a pipe from a can of diesel, through a hand pump, onto the HP pump.  (This diesel must be 100% uncontaminated as bypassing the filter).  That will confirm if the problem is the fuel/filter or whether it's a separate issue.
