Ford fiesta key restriction

Featured Replies

Hello,

I’m wondering if anybody knows about the key that’s restricted the speed and radio volume please?

The car came with one key, not the the one that can remove the restrictions.
my question is do I need a full new key or can I just get the cheaper spare key?

many thanks

Simone

If you don't have the admin key, you can use Forscan to disable MyKey.  No need to purchase another key.

Well if your confident and happy to connect up to your cars OBDii port with a laptop and a vLinker FS cable you can use FORScan to clear the 'MyKey' from the BCM

FORScan: https://forscan.org/download.html

vLinker FS cable: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-vLinker-Adapter-FORScan-MS-CAN/dp/B0952P4MLP

You can’t connect the usb version to an iPad. I don’t know if forscan lite even supports the function you need. Do you have a Windows laptop you can use?

To be brutally honest, if you’re asking the question, it might be better you don’t attempt to use Forscan yourself. It’s very easy to break things if you’re not certain what you’re doing.

I guess I’m trying to avoid paying £175 for a new key to remove the restriction on the key I have.

Have you bought the car from a business or privately?

If it’s a business I’d raise the issue with them and let them sort it or get you a new key.

Ye I bought it from a garage and I’ve had nothing but trouble with it, they fitted the Cat that I had to fight for 6 months but they refuse to replace the key saying they didn’t know, I feel like I don’t have a leg to stand on now.

I don't think you can disable Mykey on your car with FORScan. Have a read here https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1173 9

You need two Keys and have to erase then reprogram them, which is something that you can only do with older cars.

There is a manual way to disable MyKey in that thread that works for some people, I haven't tried it myself.

Hi, just to clarify the situation.

You must use a Windows laptop and you need to use the full version of FORScan, see the links in my original post above. You will need to use it with the vLinker FS cable (Amazon) as in the photo you posted.

You can not use either of the phone versions, FORScan Lite (Android) or FORScan Lite (iOS)

As has been said, unless you are confident in how to use FORScan, it would be better to find someone who would be able to help. Errors in programming can very easily turn your car in to a giant paperweight !!

I'm a man, I have a Windows laptop, but ForScan terrifies me LOL

I've always been on the verge of trying it out, but as said, I'm a bit of an IT butterfingers, and can't afford to destroy my car 🤣
