Fob Key not locking back doors on Fiesta

Featured Replies

If my central locking fob key isn't locking the back doors, do I have to go to an official Ford dealer to purchase a new fob?? Or are there other options I can take so that I don't have to spend a lot of £?? If the official dealer is the only option, then so be it, but I thought I'd at least find out first.

Thanks

Yvonne

If it is locking the front doors it is not a fob problem - it's a car problem.

Thank you. I have a friendly mechanic who sorts my annual MOT's and services so I'll ask him about it.

P.S. I'd be grateful if anyone would have an idea of the cost of fixing something like this. An approximate of how much a dealer would charge would be a helpful place to start.

Thanks

As already said by @agraham it's not a fault with the key fob if both front doors are locking.

You need to check if the passenger front door is locking.

If you have a fault with the Body Control Module you will be looking at over £1000 to replace it. Do any other electrical things act a little odd or is it only the doors ?

All front doors lock and no other electrical anomalies.

Does the car have full electric windows (both front and rear) or just electric front ?

electric windows only in the front. Rear and old school handle wind up/down.

That's a pity. If it had electric rear windows the rear door locks are controlled by the Door Control Modules one in each of the front doors. The likely hood of them both failing would be slim so the fault could have just been a broken control wire. Since you have just the front electric windows it means the rear door locking (and front) is controlled by the BCM which is known to get water ingress on some cars, which leads to locking problems and quite often problems with the screen wash pump, and even the wipers.

Ask your mechanic to check the BCM for signs of water ingress or corroded connectors.
