I've done over 600 miles since having it....how will I know if it's doing a regen?

Generally you don't. I have a 2019 Focus 2.0 Ecoblue and in the 20,000 miles I've driven there has only been one occasion when I noticed that it was doing a regen.

Engine idle speed is about 200 to 300 RPM higher than normal and the MPG drops by about 3 while the regen is in progress. Some report that they can smell  'Hot' metal but that's not something that I've noticed.

The DPF & cat is separate on these, as shown in Unofix's link.  So if you have a look underneath it's easy to tell.

Is there a middle box also and a back box and a dpf ,?

No mid box.  It's either:

Cat - DPF - backbox

Or

Cat - centre pipe - backbox

I'll have a look in the morning and get a photo

So there is a back box then a really long what looks like a middle box? It's got to be 2foot long?

That's the centre pipe (see below).  You won't have a DPF in that case.

Feel free to post a pic if you want any more confirmation.

Yeah, that's definitely non-DPF.

I stand corrected on calling it a pipe.  Don't remember it being that thick.  (Though still not really 'box' shape lol).
