The automatic key does not always open the tailgate so I need to check the solenoid. Can I get at it by just removing the two torque screws on the lock, or do you also have to remove the plastic covering on the tailgate.

I have removed the 3 screws holding the plastic cover but nothing moves and todate I have yet to buy a Torque screwdriver.
