TPMS sensors not detected

Featured Replies

As the title states. After getting 4 new Goodyear tyres fitted I'm getting this error message on the dash display.

Am wondering if anyone here has come across this error message and what was the cure.

Yes I can reset the TPMS via the steering wheel buttons but it'd only be temporary.

I'm assuming failing batteries in the TPMS units themselves as I've been led to believe they last about 7 years.

So I thought I'd ask on here.

You can try recalibrating the sensors.

Hi Tom. I plugged in forscan and the tpms came up with a fault so I don't think recalibration would work but I may aswell give it a go. Who knows.

That method didn't work. It's definitely a tpms failure.

Did Forscan show a specific fault?

Might expect one sensor to get broken during a tyre change but not the whole system.

Can't remember if it showed a specific sensor. What I recall is a system fault.

Since the problem wasn't there before I had 4 new tyres fitted Halfords are going to sort it at their expense. All I know is I didn't get new valves yet I paid for a tpms service.

An update. On re visiting Halfords they did find a fault with the front nearside TPMS sensor. £100 to replace etc etc.

Forscan showed a fault too so a call to my local Fird dealer. £122.00 for 4 genuine Ford TPMS sensors. Bargain. Local tyre fitter charged £18 a corner to replace. Bargain. Cost me a few mins to calibrate and hey presto no more TPMS errors.

Why did I buy 4? Look if one goes then the others will follow very very soon. That's my philosophy.
