Sync 3 WiFi Vulnerability

Featured Replies

Just a heads up that a vulnerability has been found in the WiFi software driver used by the Texas Instruments hardware Ford use to underpin Sync 3. The TL;DR is that the car’s driving controls are firewalled from the infotainment anyway so the car is still safe to drive and the cars ignition would need to be on with an attacker close by, but if you are concerned the recommendation is to disable WiFi functionality for now. Ford will be providing an update soon.

The modding community will no doubt keep an eye on new leaked releases to see which includes the mitigations if Ford don’t make it obvious which version contains the fix.
