mondeo dpf

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me when ford started fitting the mondeos with a dpf. I had a 2005 Mk 3 several years back and I don't think it had one, I loved that car lol..i want another but I don't want all the trouble with a dpf like with my focus it's been a nightmare

Thanks

Some of the Mk3 Mondeos did have a DPF but most didn't.  I don't think it's a specific year changeover though, think it's more to do with the engine type and power output.  That was the main reason I chose a Vectra C instead around 10 years ago.  No DPF on those...  However, the Vectra snapped a spring the first day I drove it, then the stat failed (£70 for a new stat!!) then the EGR valve got stuck open.  And they have dodgy swirl flaps.  And one of the injector plugs broke...  So overall, not the best choice I've made.

I'm genuinely surprised you had so many issues with the coated DPF on your DV6 Focus though.

I had no end of problems with the old Eolys type DPF on my 2008 Focus, but then bought a Mk3 Focus with a coated DPF and had no DPF issues, and a Mk6 Golf with a coated DPF, and again, never had any DPF issues with that either.

Usually DPF issues with a cDPF are caused by another fault creating excess soot - generally from a dodgy injector, weak MAF or stuck EGR valve.

The main prob was that it got butchered, we did initially go though the motions and cleaned it out..didnt work, changed pressure switch, didn't work, tried forced regen with forscan wouldn't do it then found pressure hoses were completely toasted and crumbled, fitted new ones but still wouldn't work...so the the butcher had it...
