New mud flaps

Featured Replies

I just been buying myself a set of mud flaps, I will be fitting them at the weekend. I was hoping they would stop the spray and stone chips from marking the lower sides of the car. However after reading through the posts on here relating to mud flaps it's looking like I've wasted my money. Never mind I don't mind the look of them and every little helps I suppose.

Out of interest just what is the issue with mudflaps?

Hi taazzman600 , what do you mean  by issue with mud flaps. I bought some because I wanted some protection from stone chips and grime on my car, after I ordered them I started reading the posts on them for other people's opinions. It seems that by most of the post's they don't help much with this matter. I have no issues with them I just hope they protect my car a little.

Hi Steven. I only asked because you stated that after you read a number of posts elsewhere the concensus was that you wasted your money. Therefore I asked what was the issue as to me mudflaps do an excellent job and they enhance the look of a car.

Some however like those rally type look ruddy awful.

Mudflaps don't stop mud in my experience.

Coincidentally the last time I fitted mudflaps was also on a Mk 2.5 Focus. Like Tom, I found they didn't prevent mud, the roads seemed just as muddy after I fitted them!

Joking apart, they were genuine Ford and fitted well without drilling etc. I actually fitted them because of threads on here on the issue of the rear of the arches/front sills being abraded by chippings, rather than for mud prevention.

Good to hear some feed back.  I'm not bothered about mud but if they prevent stone chippings that's great. When I bought this car the front cills are covered in stone chippings more than the car I sold, and that was 14 years old and never had mud flaps fitted. I think the previous owner of this car did motorway miles which probably made matters worse.

Yes, that's a fair point.  Also the reason I kept them on the Mk2.5, despite never being keen on the look.

I’ve always had/needed mudflaps on my cars as I live on an unadopted road.

First choice always been the Ford accessory mudflaps but not available for the Focus ST so Rallyflapz seemed the best option. Gone thru a few sets as the front ones used to sit a bit close to the floor but trimmed a bit more off the latest set and they seem to be doing on so far
