My car has a stutter while driving along

Featured Replies

I have a problem with my mk7 1.4tdci zetec 2008 fiesta diesel. I can be driving along and it sort of misses a beat. There’s no pattern to it when it happens.  It only happens when I’m driving along and not on tick over. I’ve only recently had the car so I don’t know what has been done to it in the past. Does anyone have any ideas please?. I know Tomsfocus suggested it could be the fuel filter need replacing. I will look into it. Any other suggestions?

While the misfire is not causing the engine management light to be turned on it is possible that a DTC has been recorded. It is worth getting FORScan and checking for any Ford specific codes. If there is something in memory it will give a clue as to whether it is a random misfire or if it is always the same cylinder.

There are 3 versions of FORScan, one for a windows laptop, one for Android and one for iPhone.

Thank you I will see if my son in law will take it for me to have a check on the machine. Hoping it’s nothing serious

If it is not at a Ford main dealer with Ford's own diagnostic equipment you will be wasting your time. Generic code readers, no matter how expensive and no matter how good, nearly always do not read Ford specific DTC's.
