stereo in 2003 zetec fiesta

Featured Replies

hi my fiesta has a single din pioneer head unit with broken plastic housing around it.

can i buy a new housing , or maybe better can i buy an original ford unit to fit the double din ?? not sure what model it had originally.

thanks

2003 would originally have the 'triple' radio, so that can't be refitted after the dash bars have been cut out.

Have you got a picture of yours so we can see which part's broken?

A previous owner has cut the bars out of the dash to create a square hole instead of the 3 slot hole.  That's why you can't go back to the original triple radio unless you replace the whole dash front as well.

So you're left with the option of keeping the single DIN and just buying a replacement fascia, or fitting a non-original double DIN unit.

looks like you have to take some of the surround off to access the screws?

Yes, the whole dash front.  It's a pain on these as you can easily damage the HVAC cables in the process.  Facelift models are much easier.

Yours already has an aftermarket plastic surround fitted though, so you may not need another if that part is still intact.  Can just slide a new metal cage into it.

If you're sticking with the single DIN unit, yes.  The cage on yours might just need the tabs bending out to secure it more tightly again.  The triangular tabs on the side of the cage are designed to be bent out to secure the cage before sliding the headunit through it.

so ive put the stereo at the bottom and its quite stable, obviously not totally secure but it will do.

i just need something to put in the top half to blank it out or use it for storage???
