brake lights stuck on!!! fiesta 2002 1.4 zetec

Featured Replies

another driver informed me my brake lights were stuck on.

on investigation, it is only when the ignition is on , all 3 lights are on including the middle high one.

handbrake seems ok as the dash light goes on and off ok when i operate it.

any ideas what it could be, and is there any more checks i can do to narrow it down??

Brake pedal switch.

cheers tom is this an easy replacement?

Is this a 2002 Fiesta ? Your profile says it's a 2009

Only a twenty minute job, just unclip the switch remove the plug and reverse the procedure with the new switch.

It could simply be that it has got knocked off it's position and needs reseating, if not, new switch

i had a look and both sensors were not attached! so i attached the one i think is for the brake lights and twisted it but a bit of plastic broke off, which holds it in place.

so i defo need a new switch and a small flat screwdriver to replace it.

Which switch do you need?  It should be the lower one that controls brake lights.  (Easily tested)

Can be had for around £15 on eBay.

the one in there works because i tested it when its held in place , its just the plastic tab has broken which  secures it when you twist in in place.
