Can anyone tell me where my O2 sensor is?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for my O2 sensor for a 61 plate MK3 Ford Focus. It's location is Bank 1 Sensor 1 apparently. I've tried looking up online but struggling to find it in conjunction to the car body? Thanks!

Which engine?

EcoBoost or Ti-VCT?

Assuming it's a Ti-VCT, they use a twin cat setup with 4x O2 (Lambda) sensors.

Sensor 1 is the sensor nearest the exhaust manifold (left on this picture).  But I'm not sure which side is bank 1.

This is right behind the engine in about the most awkward place to access there is.

(PS - If it's an EcoBoost, they only use a single cat setup, with the top lambda on the elbow bend from the turbo, still behind the engine.)

Just for your reference Bea. Sensor 1 is Pre cat. Sensor 2 is Post cat. Another way of putting it is 1 is before the cat and 2 is after the cat.

Bank 1 is usually the passenger side if the car has a dual cat setup or indeed is a V6 for example.

What makes you think you need to replace the O2 sensor?

@TomsFocusits definitely not an ecoboost so I'm guessing it's TI. Thanks for picture I imagine it's why ive struggled to locate it then! @tazzman600 oh thank you! I have an engine management light on for it. So I plugged it in come up with this.

No problem Bea. I wish you well in swapping that sensor. Sensor 1's seem more expensive than sensor 2's. My car needs a replacement sensor 2 unfortunately which in my car easier to locate and replace.

Oh. Try deleting the error code. See how long it takes to come back on. Maybe try a bottle of Cataclean in your fuel. You never know. It just might work and clean the tips of the O2 sensors and no more error codes.
