Just got my car back head gasket gone or head cracked. Wet belt shredding any suggestions what to do or no anyone in Notts,Derby area would do good deal on a engine 1.8 tdci

Did you buy the car from a trader?

Doesn't sound like it's worth fixing so used engine is probably the most cost effective option.

Can be had for around £600 on eBay.  Would probably recommend belt change before fitting.  And probably a clutch while it's out as well.  Should bring the bill down to around £1200.  Not going to be cheap whatever you decide sadly.

No private sale unfortunately seemed fine when I test drove it.

My brother has a smax aswell he's taken off road as didn't want to spend anymore money on it so I've swapped with him. Only problem his lad had started stripping it so just put it back together and needs about 700 quid spent on it cheaper than mine and his lad can strip mine
