Hi, 

Would anyone know where I can purchase an adapter plate to convert my V6 essex to 5 speed please. I have everything else to complete but can't find an adapter.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Martin, I can only assume that you are on Capri Forums - and if no one there can help, not sure where you could get one.

I  know that Burton Power used to do bell housings, and that some 4 speeds Capris where modified to take a 5 speed box, and IIRC, a different gear box mount was needed and gear stick was further back. May have also needed a different length prop shaft.

I had 2.0S Capris, and with the '83 plate 5 speed got from Luton to Glasgow on one tank of 4star !

Thanks for the reply Paul, I've tried Burton Power but no adapters, can't seem to find one anywhere. I'm not in a great rush, would just like to get it all sorted over the winter. That's good going Luton - Glasgow.

Sorry i've just seen your post. I have read this thread some time ago but it is very informative. I've contacted the Capri club again and the adapter plates are being reproduced again, apparently the guy who makes them had been off sick.
