Ford Fiesta Automatic - hand brake pads seized.

Featured Replies

Due ti illness my wife had not used her car much in the last 2 months or so. After sitting in the garage for a few days when we tried to reverse out it seemed as if I was trying to move it forgetting to release handbrake. After moving slightly back and forth, there was a clunk from rear passenger side and all was well. Manually operated handbrake - not electrical like my Mondeo.

Do I need further checks?

Nearest Ford garage i 15 miles away and not very helpful - can wait 2 weeks for an appointment.

Shouldn't need any further checks.  As long as both wheels are now free with the handbrake off and locked with it on then it's ok.

Handbrake will be tested during MOT if that's coming up soon.

If you're parking it up for long periods of time, just leave it in Park and don't bother putting the handbrake on
