ST180 Clutch sticking.

Featured Replies

Bought my St180 2 days ago and today I took it for a "spirited drive" and as I came to a junction the clutch seemed pretty flat to the floor, so I flicked it up with my foot and it was fine but it has done it a few times today and only seems to do it from 1st gear. There are no obstructions to cause this. Drives great though with no other problems except for that occasionally. Just came back from a little drive to test it and it hasn't done it again so far.

I'll also add I just came back from a long drive to test to see if it would happen again and it didn't but I'm confused to why it done it?

Likely to be a failing master cylinder.  They can last ages like this though.

It is worth checking the return spring is still attached to the pedal as a free and easy test.

Thanks for your comment mate how much would I be looking at for a new clucth and fitting?

The master cylinder is behind the pedal, not near the clutch.

MC is probably around £150 fitted.

3 piece clutch kit with slave cylinder will be closer to £400 fitted.

Thanks Tom appreciate it. When you said they can last for ages like that do you mean in months, years?

Yeah, they can last years like that.

It is a common issue, but seems rare for them to completely fail.

I will caveat that by saying that theoretically it could fail at any time...but that's the same with many parts on cars.

Thanks again, I hear also while pulling off in first there's like a slight rattle/grind noise I'm pretty sure it's coming from one of the front tyres but I can't pin point what it could obviously be as it could be a variety of things
