2007 focus struggling to start

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone possibly offer any advice on my focus struggling to start on a morning?

It turns over but takes AGES to kick into life!!, when it does it kicks out plumes of white smoke that smell like gas.

Once we've had our daily morning scrap, for the rest of the day it's fine, starts first turn of the key, even after being parked up for hours?!

Any info or advice much appreciated before my beloved focus acquires some new dents from my uni student daughter who, "hasn't got time for this (expletive!!)" whilst it's having it's morning hissy fit.

Thanks in advance 👍

Some idea of what engine, what fuel would help

It's diesel 1.6

Now fan on constant when engine running.

The joys 😩

It will do if you have the AC turned on.

Check glow plugs first

As above, this is a typical glow plug fault.  On the 1.6 TDCI, once one fails, they all burn out due to the way they're connected.

Fan running may indicate a DPF regen in progress.
