2019 Smax fuses

Featured Replies

Morning all. I’m in the uk and have a 2019 Smax. Not convinced that the front heated screen is working so thought I’d have a look at the fuses. The fuse board in the engine compartment is where I believe the fuses to be but think there’s might be 2 levels to the compartment but I can’t work out if there is 2 or if there’s another compartment.
id appreciate some help if anyone has any info.
thanks in advance

Power Distribution Box - Bottom
There are fuses on the bottom of the fuse box. To access the bottom of the fuse box, do the following:

Power Distribution Box Movement

  1. Release the two latches, on both sides of the fuse box.
  1. Raise the inboard side of the fuse box from the cradle.
  1. Move the fuse box toward the center of the engine compartment.
  1. Pivot the outboard side of the fuse box to access the bottom side.

Thanks Tom, I did finally work it out but the fuses were ok, so no further forward. Lol

Is it both sides of the screen or just one?  If both sides, it's probably due to low battery voltage.  If one side there may be a damaged cable, worth checking the ones by the bonnet hinges first.

There are a few factors that have to be met before the front heated screens will operate. As Tom says a low battery state of charge will prevent the screens turning on. Also on most Fords of the last 10 years or so, the outside ambient temperature has to be 7oC or less.

I know that the start/stop can be affected but sure whilst the car is running it’s being powered by the alternator as if the front doesn’t work and that’s more important why would the rear heated screen work? Doesn’t make any sense to have the screen where u look not able to be cleared and the rear work.
I’ll wait for the temp to drop a little and test. All the fords I’ve had and that’s several the heated screens have always worked even in summer.

As many will testify on here, the Front heated screens are deliberately disabled if the battery has a low state of charge (memory fails me tonight but I think it is below 70%).

The Front Screens take up to 60 Amp per side whilst heating. The rear screen is typically 30 to 40 Amp depending on the model.

Yep exact same issue on on my 17 plate. I use charger to top battery every now and again.

Sorry if I sounded dismissive, certainly wouldn’t mean it to come over that way.
thanks for all your comments
