Bonnet catch.

Long story short, the spring on the bonnet catch snapped, so I bought a cheap Ebay catch to pilfer the spring off.

Problem I've got, is that one looped end of the spring keeps straightening out, so every time I open the bonnet I have to take everything apart to bend it back sort of into place and reassemble, so I can close the damn thing.  I know, I know, buy cheap buy twice.

Does anyone know if I can get a replacement spring from Ford, probably unlikely, or if I'll just have to bite the bullet and get a complete genuine replacement bonnet catch?

It's an MY10 MK7 Zetec S, if that helps. 🙂

    My 'Focus' bonnet lock has been replaced 3 times with cheap Ebay crap, last time I needed it done, I went to a breaker and got a genuine Ford one, it's been fault free for over a year now. I'm pretty sure you'll have a similar experience...

    I've got the choice of a Ford dealer next to work, or a Ford breakers next to work.  Frankly the Ford breakers are a waste of good spunk, in my experience of them.

    The breaker I use also do online & 'post', so may even be worth dropping an email to...

    Spring isn't available separately.  This should be the latch assy for cars with an alarm switch.

    I went round to Jennings/Lookers Ford/whatever they are calling themselves this month, 😉 and ordered one from them.  The price is similar, I just need to go back and collect it.
