Solved - Main Beam Headlights not Turning off

Featured Replies

Just posting this incase anyone else has this issue and it is of help.

On my 2012 S-Max Titanium X Sport I have been having an issue where my main beam headlights will be permanently on once the ignition has been turned on, moving the indicator stalk makes no difference but the voice/phone and left/right signals still work fine.. Also intermittently i have noticed that the lights will come on briefly whilst the car is locked and off which is draining the battery.

To Try and diagnose this issue i have checked the Battery Voltage and charged it to ensure its not a Low Voltage to the LCM.

I disconnected the battery positive for 10 minutes to powerdown the modules.

I have then used Forscan to check for any problems with the modules.

All of these checks made no difference to the problem, but after reading a topic in the forums about cleaning the contacts on the indicator stalk i thought it worth giving that a try.

I purchased some WD40 Contact Cleaner followed a youtube video to remove the Stalk, unscrewed the circuit board and then sprayed the cleaner liberally on the contacts agitating with a fine brush to clean off any rubbish. leave it to dry and put it back to gether, refit to the steering column and like magic its working correctly once more.
