Help! 2014 Fiesta not starting, intermittent fault

Featured Replies

Hi, my 2014 Fiesta 998cc Ecoboost has developed an intermittent starting problem. All lights come on but the key just, well, turns and does nothing. No fault/warning lights on dash.

I've had many suggestions from people (it's not the starter motor, that's been replaced)...I reckon it might be the clutch switch, because I'm sure that when I first had this car I only had to press the clutch to start, and now it's asking for clutch and brake, which seems excessive! Other suggestions include the ignition switch, a problem with the key, brake switch, immobiliser...any advice welcome.

It will start after about 10 minutes of refusing, and it only happens every few journeys.

If you download FORScan on a windows laptop, and connect to the OBDII port, firstly you will be able to see if there are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's). Secondly you will be able to see and test the operation of the clutch switch and check it detects when the pedal is depressed.

I have exactly the same problem.  The clutch switch and starter motor have now been replaced.  Garage now wants to remodel and keys - which don't seem to be the problem.  Did you ever find out what the issue was?
