Hoping someone can help!

my daughter is about to purchase a 2013 Ford Ka however when she test drive it the engine management light was on, the garage said they would MOT and make any repairs! It seems to have passed MOT with no advisories! Previous MOT in march this year had quite a few! Should I be concerned this is dodgy! Can garages issue fake MOT which are registered on government website! It’s her 1st car and hoping to avoid any scams thanks

    This is a difficult one unfortunately.

    Can garages issue fake MOTs?  Yes.

    Is it worth risking their MOT licence for nowadays?  Probably not.

    Garages don't legally have to list any advisories though.  So if the trader gives them a lot of business, they may ask them not to list advisories for a clean sheet.

    It's also pretty easy to pass MOT, but not necessarily in best practice. (For example briefly switching off the engine light, or replacing single items instead of a pair, or bodging things instead of buying new.)

    There's no way to know how reliable a used car may or may not be.  Passing MOT certainly doesn't guarantee a year of trouble free motoring.
