Charging Ford fiesta 2019 battery

Featured Replies

I have a 2019 fiesta vignale and my battery needs charging up a bit. I need advice on how to charge a battery still connected to the car. I brought a smart charger and was told to connect the red cable to positive connection on battery and negative cable to negative connection on battery. Is this correct or is the negative cable connected elsewhere?  I am getting mixed information on the internet. Thank you

Negative should be connected to the chassis earth point from the battery so the BMS can sense the charge.

If you don't already have one get yourself a digital multimeter (less than £12) so that you can accurately check the State Of Charge (SOC) of your battery. Always take measurements about 1 hour after the car has been parked, or 1 hour after you finish charging the battery.
