Footwell lighting upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi,

I want to upgrade my mk8 st line to have footwell lighting however if I am connecting straight to the battery will that not drain it? Has anyone done this before and which company / lights did you use?

Thanks

Are the lamp holders already there but not used?

Autobeam make kits that either plug in to the original lamp holders or splice into the wiring.

you wouldn’t connect direct to the battery, it’s would be easier to to connect to the fuse box with a piggyback fuse holder and a switch or connect to the courtesy light wiring.

Be aware that these lights are permanently on with the vehicle lights. I fitted these to mine,   https://www.amazon.co.uk/URAQT-Waterproof-Taillight-Universal-Courtesy/dp/B0CH11P4HM/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3R9BCWJR4OUXY&keywords=led+number+plate+light&qid=1702206414&sprefix=led+num%2Caps%2C194&sr=8-3 because they direct the light down to your feet without illuminating the whole area and becoming distracting.
