Help Please

Featured Replies

Just bought myself a ford fiesta reg 51 so a 2001. Its a 1.8 tdi.

I've got two problems with the car.

One of the problems is I'm getting no heat through. Its blowing through but its always cold. I've checked oil and water and both fine. Any suggestins

Also need suggestions for noise I'm getting from the car. It sounds like a rumbling noise that comes from the front. I think it could be the wheel bearing but I've had it suggested to be the wheel balance but I'm getting no vibration on steering wheel

Hello

your first problem is a stuck closed heater control valve there were several versions of this valve as they had problems with them sticking closed thus like yours.

Second Does the rumbling occur when moving or when stationary.

Does it go away when the clutch is dipped or when the clutch is up.

Thank you for the reply.

The noise kinda only stays around the 45/60 mark and only tend to be there if ideal by that I mean maintaining speed rather than going through it. At times there's a slight resemblance to it in lower speeds but tend to notice it most when in gear five and at above speeds.

Havnt noticed putting clutch in too make too much diffferance.

Do I need to replace the heater part then. And do you have any idea where I can find I

Many many thanks

Hello

The heater control valve would have to be a new part iam afraid.

Your best be would be to obtain one from your local ford dealer though iam sure someone on here who works for a ford parts place will happily quote you a price if you pm them your car's details.

You can obtain a cheaper pattern part though i personally would fit a new ford part (fit and forget)

The Rumbling noise could be wheel bearings. to check this jack up the car one side at a time and spin the wheel and listen for any noise and feel for any roughness.

The other problem is that it could be a driveshaft Joint (Universal Joint) Wear in these can cause rumbling at higher driven speeds and engine speed at idle will not affect this.

Hope this helps

Jamie

a new genuine heater valve would be £35.00 + £4.00 delivery

Thanks

as if by magic :)
