Oil and Filter change

Featured Replies

Hi, I am inquiring on behalf of my son. He has a Ford Focus St Line on a 2022 plate and he needs  an oil and filter change .

Can I please get recommendations , in the South London region,  for prices of the above?

Thanks in advance. It will need to meet Ford standards.

I hope I haven't posted in the wrong place. I apologise if I have. If I have ? which is the place I should have posted?

I was quoted £373 odd ( by Trustford Wimbledon). Isn't that an exorbitant price? I shall phone up other Ford outlets and see if the price is right? As the cars a 2022plate, surely that price must also be for a Service too? I shall phone them again tomorrow to check my understanding.

Good idea to call, that is not the price to change oil & filter!

Oh, and this is the link for the 'Fiesta' forum...

Assuming it's a 1.0 EcoBoost, it's likely to be the 2 year scheduled service rather than just an oil change.  That needs to be done within 2 years/18k miles to retain the warranty.

I am sure she's given me the price of a service and that would include the oil and filter change. My son's car is under a 3 year warranty plan and his Focus was registered in jan 22. So in that case then it doesn't need to be serviced till jan 24. He got a warning saying that his oil was less than 5%. So to conclude, then. His car will just need an Oil and Filter change ???

Thanks for your advice. BYTW I am getting a Focus too in 14 days or so . I have to sell my beloved Rover 75. So sad.

I have lost the plot !!! My son's car should have an Oil and Filter change and a 2 year service. The 2 year service would be in Jan 2024, as it was registered in Jan 22.

That's right isn't it??  (He has a 3 year warranty plan). Thanks

I'm sorry. I confused myself , big time. My son's car will need a 2 year service, which will include the Oil and Filter change. Although very expensive with Ford, I shall have to find a cheaper place and ensure they use genuine Ford Parts

All privately owned Fords in the UK come with 3 years warranty as standard.

If he's paying for a plan that's most likely to be a service plan.  In which case, the cost of the service is covered by that.

When the oil change reminder comes up, it is acceptable to just have an oil change done.  However, in this case, with the scheduled service so soon, it makes sense to have the whole service done.

The parts for this service are only oil, oil filter and pollen filter.  Everything else is just 'checks'.

It's also worth noting that a genuine Ford service includes 12 months AA breakdown cover for free at most Ford dealers.  (Not all dealers participate in this so it's worth checking).

Just checked back the service invoices for my previous 1.0 Fiesta and the 2 year was about £210, including the breakdown cover extension. Basically content as Tom's post above.

That was 3 years back, so prices will obviously have increased. Also, most dealers recommend a brake fluid change at 2 years, so may have included that. (My last one was £30, but I've seen more than double that elsewhere).
