Petrol Station stops filling & car is not full

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Just wondering if I can have some help?

I've got a 2007 (57) Ford Fiesta style Climate which has done nearly 70K miles

I've now twice filled my car up with petrol and both times the fuel has cut off at the Petrol Station and isn't giving me a full tank of petrol, it's just below the full mark - happy to grab a pic if that helps.

But just wondering if anyone might know what's causing this and how to fix?

Many thanks,

Joseph

Try another station and pump. I had the exact same issue last week where the pump cut out every 15/20 seconds. Chose another garage yesterday and it brimmed 1st time no issues...

What if you try to not fully fit the nozzle into the hole, pressing the trigger more gently instead of full blast, stopping every £5, then gently pulling on the trigger, blasting fuel into the tank causes bubbles which release vapours, the vapours go up the nozzle the safety device in the handle activates causing it to click/stop the fuelling.

You may as well get an EV LOL

I've found that different petrol station pumps either blast fuel into the tank or trickle and all speeds in-between. Also some cars don't accept fuel at a high speed and some cars gulp it for fun.

I've found twisting the nozzle a little to the left allows for a faster fill.

As Ian mentioned earlier. Fuelling up creates a kind of back pressure which the pump triggers safety system cuts the flow.

You stick petrol in an EV then pal ? I know of someone who has an EV and puts petrol in his 'thing', it's for his mower though 🤣
