Squeaky brake pedal

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have got a squeaky brake pedal have taken it to a main dealer. They have replaced the brake booster and have sprayed around the area with WD-40 but the squeak still remains. Does anyone know what this may be?

Can you lean your head down in the footwell and press the pedal to see if you can hear exactly where the squeak is coming from? In my case it was simply the pedal pivot point which some spray oil did cure. (If spraying any lubricant in that area, toss a rag over the actual pedal rubber, the last thing you want is to get some overspray on the rubber!)

Does the pedal squeak with any of your footwear? There have been cases where the type of soles on the footwear causes a squeak.
