Car boot doesn’t lock when doors are locked

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

just a quick one. I’ve a ford festia 1.4 2009 and for some reason when I locked the car the boot doesn’t lock and can still be opened. Would this be something to do with the switch in the handle of the boot or would it be the actual locking mechanism in the boot? Not sure if it’s a common problem with them as I’ve just bought the car.

cheers

Not quite the answer to the question.  🤔

If we assume the car has 'keyless entry' and you have the keyfob in your pocket then the boot will always open when you press the button on the handle.

You can test by putting the keyfob well out of range of the car and then trying the boot.

Of course this makes much more sense. Apologies. Abit slow today.

I’ll try that when the second half gets back from work.

thanks again!
