New parts

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, i have a ford ranger XLT 2015, and i have been quoted $1150 for new front rotors and pads, is this excessive? Also been told i need new wheel nuts apparantly, i told the service guy this is crap, the last time the wheels came off was when you serviced it, thoughts please.

Hi,

Ford wheel nuts are known for corroding and swelling up making them difficult to remove.  So I wouldn't be surprised if at least some need replacing on an 8 year old truck.  You can confirm that yourself by eye or by trying to fit a socket over them.  You may be able to source them more cheaply than the garage are offering.

If that's $1150 USD then it does sound excessive for just front discs and pads.  Even from a Ford dealer the parts should only come to around $300-400.  I've no idea what the average labour rates cost in your area though.
