Mk6 Fiesta Tachometer Not Working When Wet

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Mk6 Fiesta and have recently noticed the tachometer does not work on startup - when it is has been wet! After a few miles and the car has warmed up, it starts working. It also works from startup when it is dry!! Has anyone come across this? Could it be that the sensor or cabling needs replacing? If so, where do I start looking and how can I replace any parts? Any help appreciated.

I had the same problem as you. To fix it I purchased an OBD II interface off ebay for appprox £20. I downloaded a shareware version of scantool.net and it came back with errors from the cam sensor and the crank sensor.

I called my ford dealer giving my model and registration number and got both parts for less than £60. They are very simple to locate being under the air filter box (2 bolts and 3 hoses to remove), and held in by one small bolt and a metal retaining pic from the sensor to the connector.

I can't recommend enough purchasing a simple code reader. They have the potential to save you hundreds of pounds/dollars etc and will ease your mind should the engine management light appear for a minor fault.
