Clutch

Featured Replies

Hi guys I've got a 2007 ford fusion zetec 1.4 petrol can someone tell me if it has a clutch cable or is it hydraulic as it seems to be slipping in 3rd gear ,

Hydraulic.

If the clutch is original, it is probably well worn by now and due replacement.

What might be an average lifespan of the clutch in

For the Focus Mk3.0 5 speed manual, how many miles might an original hydraulically operated Ford clutch assembly be expected to last for? How near to replacement might a Mk3.0 clutch assy likely be with 126,500 miles on the odometer?  [a fair mix between motorway driving and city driving during its lifetime to date].

I'd say that's already exceeded the average now at 13 years & 126k.  I wouldn't like to put a specific figure on it, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if it makes 15 years/150k.

The motorway use will have extended it's life, as there's virtually no clutch wear while cruising on a motorway.

Virtually no clutch wear if you can drive properly. Never replaced a clutch on any car I've owned and with high mileages clocked up by me .
