Headlamp Won't Go On Without Ignition

Featured Replies

Here's the story, when the ignition is off and you turn the headlamps on only the O/S goes on and the N/S remains off, however when you turn the ignition on the N/S goes on. Fuse problem ? Is there a seperate fuse for both sides or is it just one fuse ?

is it the headlight bulb or the sidelight bulb,if its only the sidelight bulb it is most likly a parking light system.

Hmm... Didn't quite understand that

It isn't the bulb, cos it works when the ignition is on.

Another quick question:

On a MK4 Fiesta should the lights go really dim when the ignitions in the OFF position ?

Hi

Sounds like a voltage shortage to N/S headlight (not enoiugh voltage to throw the relay when the ignition is off.

What voltage is your battery when everything is switched off.

Jamie

on some ford models there is a parking light system which only puts the offside front and rear lights on, not full or dipped beam but the small sidelight bulb in the front headlight and a tail light.

So even if this isn't meant to happen as long as the O/S headlamp goes on without the ignition it will pass an MOT ?
