Numerous problems with my mild hybrid (2L diesel) Ford Kuga

Featured Replies

Since purchasing my Ford Kuga in 2021 from new, I have encountered persistent safety-related problems that have significantly disrupted my ownership experience. These issues have raised serious concerns about the quality of service provided by the dealership. Despite making numerous attempts to address these concerns directly with the dealership, the problems persist, negatively impacting the vehicle's performance and my safety.

To make matters worse, I have requested the dealership to provide me with a detailed report of all repairs and replacements done to date. Despite reaching out through three email correspondences, text messages, and phone calls, my requests have been ignored.

The major concerns I have raised include, but are not limited to:

  1. Defective Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF):

    • The DPF was replaced in March 2023.
    • Despite the replacement, there is a persistent smell of fumes inside the vehicle.
    • Seeking a second opinion last week from another dealership indicated that the DPF still has a crack, suggesting that the critical issue was not adequately addressed.
  2. Mild Hybrid Battery Issues:

    • Numerous problems with stop/start functionality.
    • An inspection last week revealed that the 48V mild hybrid battery has only 35% life remaining and needs to be re-charged, contradicting assurances provided by the dealer I purchased the vehicle from.
  3. Heating & AC System Issues:

    • Ongoing problems since June 2021.
    • Despite multiple attempts to rectify the issue, intermittent smells of dampness persist through the air vents.
  4. Brake System Noises:

    • Noisy brakes since day one.
    • Rear disc brakes were replaced in November 2022.
    • Constant issue where the brakes feel to be sticking on reverse.
  5. Steering Rack & Turbo Replacement:

    • Both replaced in Sept 2023.
    • Concerns about the work done, and no justification provided for the replacements.

      Poor Workmanship:
Moreover, instances of poor workmanship have resulted in Engine Coolant Leakage following the turbo replacement. Additionally, a previous incident involving the use of an incorrect computer system during rear disc replacement in November 2022 caused the car to malfunction and rendered it inoperable for a week, highlighting a lack of competence and attention to detail within the service team.

I have also reached out to Ford Ireland Relationship Customer Service to address my concerns but they are saying my issue is with the dealership as it's a franchise. Also, I tried to submit a claim with SIMI but was refused as they feel my issues fall under the manufacturer's purview. I find myself at a loss and deeply frustrated with the lack of resolution.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights from the community on how to address these issues and determine the best course of action.
