Losing Air on New Tyre.

Featured Replies

Got 2 brand new uniroyals on the front a couple of days ago and the TPMS light came on, I went to check and the passenger side was 28psi and drivers was on 38. My last set of tyres I had the same problem on passenger where I'd lose air pressure, what can this be please? A valve?

Could be the valve, the hike in the rim the valve sits in or the rim of the wheel, spray some water with a little washing up liquid in around the wheel, might help you find it.

Been reading that the OEM valve caused problems with the wheel corroding 😆

Probably leaking around the Bead...I would take it back to the company that fitted them & explain a slow leak? they should check it for free... It may require additional bead seating compound (It isn't overly uncommon to leak slowly around the Bead) nothing to loose by asking & plenty to gain 👍

Occasionally I have found the Schraeder Valve cores weeping (normally the Valves are replaced) but if TPM Valves are fitted They would've been left in place (I apply a small amount of WD40 into the Valve) & depress it several times quiickly before re-inflating... It re-lubricates the internal mechanism & helps to re-seal

Good luck either way 🤞

That is mainly the metal valve used on the ST but, I think that was mainly down to installation as I’ve never had the issue with mine.

Since the previous tyre I had on there was losing air but did have damage more than the others and with the new one doing the same would you think more of a valve problem other than tyre as its a brand new one 😒

I would say almost definitely a weeping core 👍 (a little squirt of WD40 always works for me)
